For at least the last 20 years, the field of Holistic and Alternative medicine has been exploding. Many Americans want an alternative to traditional
Western medicine, which many argue treats merely the symptoms of health problems and malaise, but does nothing to address their root causes.
By studying a holistic or alternative medicine program, you will learn not only about the many different types of alternative health care and wellness,
but you will also receive the educational foundations that will enable you to start your own business in this fast-growing area, or work for an alternative
medicine organization.
Your coursework could vary greatly depending on the type of program you select, but classes could include:
Upon graduation, a wide number of career choices are available to you. You could become an herbalist, acupuncturist, alternative healer or nutritional consultant who works for him or herself, developing a practice on your own. Or you could seek employment from one of many institutions or agencies that promote alternative healing, including even traditional, Western doctor offices, rehabilitative health practices and HMOs.
