Students at Texas colleges and universities enjoy being on one of the most distinctive American states. Everything really is big in Texas: big prairie, big sky, big herds of cattle, and yes, big cities. Whether you seek the sophistication of intellectual and artsy Austin, the cowboy culture of Forth Worth, the glitz of oil-rich Houston, or the seaside delights of Galveston, you are sure to find Texas a great place to live and study. The Lone Star State was once its own republic, and once you visit, you'll agree that there is not a lot that this state has in common with the rest of the country. Texas is a place where people are very sincere and their values can be old-fashioned. But they are generous and hospitable, and will make you feel at home."When job titles started showing up 20 years ago, most of us who were working in the area at the time came to the profession from a disparate set of backgrounds; there were people who were environmentalists, architects, organizational development specialists ... there is a variety of skill sets. This perspective created a a foundation for the field, but since that time, it's no longer enough to have a degree in organizational development, environmental studies or engineering. It doesn't sound specific enough.
So combine your interest in science, engineering, and the environment with skills in project management and leadership to analyze, design, and manage sustainable projects. This degree focuses on developing and evaluating sustainability strategies for water, energy, land management, and urban development.
And higher education has responded by offering more degrees that have sustainability in the title.Research also reveals increasing interest in sustainability-focused higher education. Last year, Net Impact an organization for students and professionals working in the sustainability field research found that making an environmental and social impact through business has gone from "nice to have" to "must have" for prospective graduate business students.
