You will also learn the proper procedures for preparing prescriptions, stocking and monitoring drug supplies on shelves, and how to deal with customers' questions and privacy.

This job is growing much faster than the average job and has a median wage of around $29,300 per year as of May 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Hospitals tend to pay pharmacy techs slightly better than the median, averaging around $33,200, while the Executive Branch of the Federal Government pays a little more still at $39, 900.
