Lebanon Valley College is a private, non-profit 4-year institution located five miles from the city center that offers a diverse collection of degrees at all levels of higher education. Along with its 35 available undergraduate majors, Lebanon Valley College provides teaching certifications and pre-professional programs in various disciplines to a student body of more than 2,000 individuals. Tuition rates are comparable to the statewide average of $32,559 per year for similar institutions.

Harrisburg Area Community College, or HACC, is the city's top public institution, offering certificates and two-year degrees to more than 23,000 students of all ages. HACC also serves between 5,000 and 6,000 people with its distance education and online courses and boasts the second-highest number of armed service veterans on its student rolls.
