Limestone College is a private Christian liberal arts college based in North Charleston that offers both associate and bachelor's degrees. Founded in 1845, it was actually the first woman's college in the state, but became co-educational in the late 1960s, according to the school website. Students can also enroll for online learning there.

Some of these include the branch campus of Springfield College, with a home campus in Massachusetts, Charleston Southern University, Miller-Motte Technical College, Trident Technical college, and Virginia College. With a population of more than 95,000, the city is focusing on change. It must be finding some success as the city grew more than 22 percent from 2000 to 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. One of its newest projects is the North Charleston Rail Project, expected to tie together the region and to create more than 800 new jobs when complete. Additionally, the community offers a low corporate income tax and provides the infrastructure to help business owners succeed. The city also became home to a Boeing assembly plant in 2009, according to the City of North Charleston website. While its retail centers are diverse (Northwoods Mall, Tanger Outlets and more), so are the learning opportunities it offers.
